Welcome to the Biodata Mining Group

The Biodata Mining & Applied Neuroinformatics Group, led by Tim W. Nattkemper, aims at the development and analysis of artificial neural networks, machine learning and image processing for applications in datasets from biological and biomedical experiments as well as clinical data. In our research we focus not only on the implementation of new and innovative algorithms but also on ways how to measure the accuracy and efficacy of algorithms in a real-world environment. To this end, we work in very close collaboration with our partners, who are drug discovery companies and biomedical research groups. In addition, we keep an eye on the applicability of our methods for non-expert users.

The group is primarly associated with the Neuroinformatics Group, within the Faculty of Technology at the University of Bielefeld. It is also a member of the Institute of Bioinformatics (IfB) at the Center of Biotechnology (CeBiTec).

To get information about our lectures, please search the electronic lecture dictionary (eKVV) of the Bielefeld University by our names.

Much more information about artifical neural networks (books, conferences, software links) you can find at the "Fachgruppe Neuronale Netze (FG NN)" site of the Gesellschaft fuer Informatik e.V. (GI). Most of the material is in german.
